Phat Quarter Classes

Embroidery Club

First Tuesday of each Month

11:30 am

The machine embroidery club meets the first Tuesday of every month at 11:30 am and is open to all machine embroiderers.  In this meeting, we will discuss new embroidery ideas.  Bring your triumphs and disasters.  We all learn by our mistakes.FeelsLikeSpring.jpg

In addition to the usual club agenda, we are starting a machine embroidery block of the month, Feels Like Spring.  The multi-formatted design CD includes all the information and the applique-in-the-hoop design motifs you will need to complete your choice of a bed-size quilt, a lap quilt, or a bed runner.  The formats on the design CD include ART, EXP, HUS, JEF, PCS, PES4, PES6, VIP, VP3, and XXX.  In addition to the applique motifs, the CD also contains, quilting designs and cutwork designs for all the luck owners of the BERNINA cutwork tool.  PDF’s for the applique pieces are also included.  The pattern also includes a few pieced blocks as well.

We will be discussing fabric choices, thread choices, and will be happy to help you find fabrics to create your quilt from scratch, or we will be happy to help you find coordinating fabrics if you want to work down your stash.   Alternate projects for your blocks will also be discussed.

Your purchase of the design CD is required.  Enjoy a 10% discount on store merchandise during the club meetings.

BERNINA Software Club
Second Tuesday of each Month
$10.00 (free to customers who purchased the software from us)  V8_DesignerPlus.jpg

This club is open to all BERNINA software owners.  If you purchased your software from us, the club is free.  If you purchased your software elsewhere, there is a modest $10.00 charge for each meeting.  If you are interested in purchasing software, you are welcome to attend a meeting at no charge.  Sitting in during a club meeting is a good way to learn about the software's capabilities.

Please bring your projects for show-and-tell, your questions and suggestions.

During the March meeting, we will be discussing the editing features of the software, including adding an article, changing stitch types and stitch angles, adding a guideline plus other features.  Please bring a USB stick so that we can copy the "Owner’s Workbook Volume 1" onto it.

What a pain! We're stuck with Jane!
4th Tuesday of each Month
11:30 am -  ??

As health issues made it necessary for Toni to move from her Wisconsin home, we have lost her constant assistance in our store.  She will still be available for classes if it is economically worth her time to drive the distance. We are working with her to develop a few new classes in the future.  We do want to keep her around.

We have had a few people ask about Teatime with Toni.  Unfortunately, we will not be continuing this class.  However, we will be offering a new class, "What a pain! We're stuck with Jane!"

For this class, Jane will be available to help you with your projects in progress, get you started on a new project, and help you with any sewing or embroidery questions you may have. Our first class will be Wednesday, November 16th.

So that we can prepare the classroom, please R.S.V.P. so that we can set up the classroom. Bring your own machine or reserve one of ours.  If you do intend to use one of our machines, please advise when you R,S.V.P.  Thank you.

New Classes Classes on Demand

If you are looking for something new and fun to do, schedule one of the following classes.  Bring a friend and make it a party.

Little Monster Class
Make-and-Take Minkee Monster

monster.jpg$25.00 (all supplies included)

Let your little monster play Dr. Frankenstein and build his or her own little Minkee Monster.  This class is open to children of all ages.  Parental supervision is required for children under age 5. Your child will choose the monster (14 fun creatures from which to choose), the monster's fur (Minkee) and all colors required to complete the embroidery design.   We will hoop the fabric and thread the embroidery machine.  Your child will push the start button to embroider his creation.  We will remove the monster from the machine and slit the monster's back and turn the monster right side out.  Depending upon the child's age, he or she will stuff the monster and hand stitch the back's opening, under supervision, of course.  We will hand stitch the back opening if required.  Your little monster will be able to bring his or her little monster home at the end of the class.

To schedule, please call or email the store.
